GKN Walterscheid ball bushes win the test

Quality products from GKN Walterscheid have once again proven their worth in official tests. “The branded coupling ball* from GKN Walterscheid is the test winner. Cheap coupling balls*”, says the report on a field test in Issue 7/2014 of top agrar, “look just like the branded products – but they cost less than half. Our test shows that false economy can even be dangerous.” The conclusion drawn by the testers at top agrar: “Our test results very clearly come out in favour of the coupling balls* from the brand-name manufacturer Walterscheid.”

The high quality of the ball bushes from GKN Walterscheid results from the elaborate manufacturing process and the use of selected materials.

The carbon content determines the properties of the ball bushes: a high carbon content makes the material harder, but also more brittle at the same time, making it more susceptible to fracture when subjected to shock loads.

Consequently, the material used for the ball bushes from GKN Walterscheid has only a low carbon content on the inside. In addition, however, it contains significant quantities of chromium and manganese. So, the alloy is of considerably higher quality, compared to other products.

Wear-resistant surface

In contrast to the material on the inside, a relatively high carbon content is desirable for the outside of the ball bushes. A surface that is enriched with carbon in an elaborate heat treatment process is hard and correspondingly resistant.

The ball bushes from GKN Walterscheid are characterised by precisely this combination of maximum wear resistance and a tough core.

Ball bushes – and also ball guide cones – from GKN Walterscheid are thus extremely wear-resistant and therefore permit long-term, trouble-free operation.
